Though I suspect that's well outside the scope of a smaller project like this one.įor the record, I would have also liked one of the Agents to be a K-9 specialist with a small team of trained Chryssalids to swarm enemies. Where the enemies are going through their version of the Breach phase and you've got to entrench your team to best deal with it. Though what I would have really liked to have seen with reinforcements was to do a role reversal. I'd be very surprised of it's not on the developers radar at this point however.

It may be something that could be fixed with a mod, or it might require a deep dive into it to fix. It's certainly an issue that's fixable, XCOM 1 and 2 never had this problem afterall. The problem there, as you rightly surmised, was the game not knowing which order to resolve those actions in which caused it to crash. Which would be in line with the general lack of polish that I accept in a 15$ game.I never had any crashes with overwatch on reinforcement spawns, but what did cause the single crash I experienced was having Godmother on Overwatch with the Close Combat Specialist talent. I strongly doubt it has anything to do with potato PCs and more with the game going ballistic trying to handle both the Overwatch and the new enemies entering the premises. I had two crashes, both times when I overwatched an area where reinforcements would appear. The swarm of Muton and snek enemies was a bit rough. I had more difficulty with the penultimate battle on the rooftops. Your characters just have too much HP for mistakes to be as punishing as in those games.įinal boss was on the easy side to be honest.

Definitely playing on Impossible the second time around, Expert was just too easy and I only ever had agents go down when I seriously blundered, in a way that would probably have caused a partial or full squadwipe in Enemy Within/XCOM 2.

I'll possibly go for a second one later down the line when the game has a few patches and decent mods in it. It's a fun spinoff that seems a testing ground for good ideas, and it just cost me 15$ for a 20 hour playthrough which is quite good. I don't think it was as good as XCOM 2 War of the Chosen, but at the price point I'm not at all unhappy with the end product.That's my view as well. XCOM has done far worse with it's spin off titles than Chimera Squad, it at least kept enough to make it play and feel like XCOM, while also changing enough to put a completely new spin on otherwise familiar mechanics. I don't think it was as good as XCOM 2 War of the Chosen, but at the price point I'm not at all unhappy with the end product. I also though the Breach phase was solid too, not perhaps as much of a game changer as the interleaved turns, but it did require some thought to get the most out of it. Having to weigh up chance to hit against which enemies were more important to remove from the fight shook up a lot of the stratergies I used in XCOM 1 and 2. I liked the interleaved turns, it added an extra layer on top of the XCOM 2 formula. Thankfully I managed to get through the game without any gamebreaking bugs. Zephyr punching things so hard they get embedded in the terrain is a close second. I get that Verge is a scrawny sectoid and brute force isn't his strong point, but come on!

I can't even finish the game - ran into a bug that causes the game to spawn waves of enemies that do not attack my party and therefore can't advance the mission.My favourite bug so far is where the character tries to smash a window, but their gun just bounces off and they carry on like normal. It has a TON of technichal difficulties and bugs, from characters moving in air to your character teleporting all over the place during breach phase.
